WHEATLAND, CA (MPG) - Casa de Esperanza will expand its prevention and education efforts with a $5,000 grant from the Hard Rock Heals Foundation.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain nominated the organization for the grant. Casa de Esperanza was among 51 nonprofit organizations worldwide selected to receive funding this year. The foundation awarded a total of $255,000 to local nonprofits.

“We nominated Casa De Esperanza because it has provided crisis support and services to the Yuba, Sutter and Colusa communities for nearly 50 years,” said Mark Birtha, president of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento. “We’re honored to support their work and proud to partner with organizations that bring Hard Rock’s mottos, ‘Love All - Serve All’ and ‘Take Time to Be Kind,’ to life in our community.”

Casa de Esperanza serves as the designated domestic violence and rape crisis center for Yuba, Sutter and Colusa counties. Its services include emergency shelter, a 24-hour crisis line, legal advocacy, therapy, prevention education and housing support.

The organization plans to use the grant to expand prevention and education programs. Funding could pay for prevention, education and outreach materials for schools, community presentations and awareness events.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento hosted Casa de Esperanza for a check presentation Sept. 9 at the Wheatland-area resort.
