YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - Local artists will take center stage at the Art Box Marketplace on Friday, Sept. 18, during a free reception featuring the gallery's latest collection at the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts.

The reception will run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the theater, 754 Plumas St. in downtown Yuba City. Visitors can meet participating artists, learn about their work and browse pieces available through the marketplace. Drinks and appetizers will be provided.

The Art Box Marketplace features work in several mediums, including painting, photography, drawing, ceramics, stained glass, textile art, jewelry and paper crafts.

Mayra Ramos Chavez joins the marketplace this quarter with paintings and decorative art glass. Her work includes portraits and paintings that draw on cultural imagery, along with decorative glass pieces.

Other participating artists include Beverly Cameron-Fildes, whose work includes acrylic, watercolor and photography; Trey Anderson, colored pencil and photography; Kathy Locke, jewelry; Kathy Childers, decoupage, quilling and paper crafts; Katie Strauss, ceramics and stained glass; and Cameron Kersting, photography.

During the reception, participating artists will discuss how they began creating art, what influences their work and why they continue their craft.

The marketplace gives Yuba-Sutter artists a place to display and sell their work while giving visitors access to locally produced art. Purchases also support programs offered through Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture.

Outside of the reception, the Art Box Marketplace is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and during special events at the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts. More information is available at http://yubasutterarts.org.
