Placer County’s Auburn, Rocklin Libraries Expand Hours to Enhance Community Access

Aug 08, 2024 02:42PM ● By Placer County News Release

AUBURN, CA (MPG) - Placer County is thrilled to announce the expansion of operating hours at two of its major library locations, Rocklin located at 350 Nevada Street, Auburn, and Auburn located on 4890 Granite Drive, Rocklin.

Starting Aug. 11, both libraries will be open seven days a week, providing increased access to a wealth of resources and services for the community. The change underscores the library's mission to connect people and strengthen the community for a better future.

The new library hours are as follows: on Sundays, the library will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and on Mondays, it will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“This is a significant step forward in our efforts to better serve our community,” said Placer County District 3 Supervisor Jim Holmes. “Expanding library hours means more opportunities for our residents to access vital resources, attend community programs and enjoy the enriching environment that our libraries provide. We are excited to see the positive impact this will have on our community.”

In addition to the new hours, the Placer County Library continues to develop a suite of online services, enhancing the ability of cardholders to access library resources remotely. These services include e-books, downloadable audiobooks, virtual homework help, job skills support, reading recommendations and more, ensuring that everyone in the community can benefit from the library's offerings, regardless of their schedule.

“Bringing more time for exploration, research and fun to our community is at the heart of what we do,” said Placer County Library Director Mary George. “We are excited to provide these expanded hours that help make our libraries more accessible and inviting to all residents. This expansion reflects our dedication to meeting the diverse needs of our community and supporting lifelong learning in Placer.”

To mark the occasion, the community is invited to a celebration event at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, to be held concurrently at the Auburn and Rocklin locations. The first 100 visitors to each location will receive a commemorative coffee mug.
