MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) – There’s a new children’s book author in town. Long time Yuba City resident, Tonya Flores, is an outgoing, energetic, busy mom of two who believes in real life superheroes! She will be joined by Santa Claus and there will be cookies and cocoa for all.
Tonya’s new children’s book series features super cute puppies, Zuko and Allie Puff who deal with many timely subjects and social issues. The first 50 who register at Eventbrite will receive a free book (one per family please), thanks to a generous donation from the Sutter County Children and Families Commission. The books are written for 3 - 9-year-olds. Isn’t it interesting how so many children’s books for certain ages involve animals as the story tellers and theme conveyors.
Tonya will be featured at a book signing “Meet the Author” event at the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts on Saturday, December 3 at 10am. The address is 754 Plumas Street in Yuba City. As a special added attraction, there will be a live appearance by Santa Claus. There will also be free cookies and cocoa for all.
The fun and sometimes lofty titles include several that connect with Aristotle’s virtues; Tsunami Trouble: Aristotle’s Virtues-Bravery, and Halloween Rescue: Aristotle’s Virtues-Generosity. Other timely and relevant titles include Ozone Overhaul: Aristotle’s Virtues - Truthfulness and Sea Ice and Polar Bears: Aristotle’s Virtues-Confidence that connect with environmental issues as well as virtues. Just in time for the holidays, there’s Christmas Snow Day: Aristotle’s Virtues: True Friendship.
And just for fun there’s New Friends and Superpower Practice. The books are delightfully illustrated by California artist and musician, Darren Drda.
Books are always great for holiday gift giving. Join the celebration of this wonderful local author and her creative literary work. For additional information about this event or other holiday specials, contact Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture at 530-742-ARTS or email [email protected].
