GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - A long-time staple of the Butte County Fair is its high adrenaline grandstand entertainment, the Destruction Derby and now, Tuff Trucks & Mud Bogs!
Williams Enterprises, LLC., brings both Extreme Truck Madness, Friday, August 26th and Extreme Destruction, Saturday, August 27th to the grandstand arena at the Butte County Fair.
The Butte County Fair is where owner of Williams Enterprises, LLC., Blane Williams of Gridley, got his first taste of mud and destruction. At 18, Williams would participate in the Butte County Fair’s destruction derby and go on to found his own entertainment business, Williams Enterprises, LLC., which specializes in promoting extreme derby and truck shows across the state.
Spectators can expect to see both stock and modified Tuff Trucks and for Mud Bogs, viewers will see stock, modified and outlaw divisions. The Tuff Trucks are capped at 30, and Williams expects about 25 Mud Bogs. He says, “We have to limit the number of entries that we can accept because we have such a great group of drivers that like to come out.” Williams adds, “If you know folks that haven’t seen a tuff trucks show before, it’s a wild show!”
The night will start off with a fun event – the Tuff Trucks Power Wheels. There kiddos will have a turn at matching their adult rivals, competing against one another in an adorably fun yet serious match of their own. Winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will take home trophies.
For the main event, trucks that could be “daily drivers” and those that have been heavily modified will take their turn racing against the clock on a course full of jumps, moguls, and hills to see how much air they can get. Down the center of the arena, a pit is dug and filled with water to create a Mud Bog course, which winners are also racing for best time. At the end of the night Tuff Trucks and Mud Bogs stocks and mods take home 1st place prize of $1,000, Outlaw class a 1st place prize of $2,000. A special “Big Air” prize goes to the truck that caught the most air off a jump. “It’s definitely something to see,” says Williams.
Saturday night Williams Enterprises LLC., brings crunching metal, smoke, mud and more to the public with the Extreme Destruction Derby. But before the chaos begins, the kiddos will get another chance to rev it up in the Power Wheels Derby. Limited to 20 vehicles, children will attempt to pop balloons attached to their competitors’ vehicles. Winners will take home 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies.
For the main event, fairgoers can expect fours classes: compact vehicles, 80’s chain class, bash style (welded and built-up vehicles) and the RV class. Back by popular demand, this will be the third year that Extreme Destruction will feature the RV class. The last vehicle running from each class will be named winners. Prizes for 1st place varies from $3,000 for bash-style class down to $1,000 for compact class vehicles.
Williams says drivers interested in participating can register online at www.williamsentllc.com/ or at www.buttecountyfair.org/fair-2022/grandstand-events for the derby up until the fair, except for in classes which numbers are being limited to 20 vehicles. Those would be compact and chain classes.
