Vietnam POW to be Featured in Veterans Day Parade

MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - Mike O’Connor arrived in Vietnam on August 23, 1967, he was assigned to the 1stAir Cavalry Division. On February 4, 1968, during the Tet Offensive his helicopter was shot down. Mike was the sole survivor. While being seriously injured he attempted to make it to a road where he hoped to be picked up. On Feb 5, 1968, he was captured by the North Vietnamese just north of Hue. Mike was required to walk north, eventually ending up at the Hanoi Hilton where he spent the next 5 years as a POW. Mike was in the second group of POW’s to be released.
O’Connor will be featured in the 2021 Veterans Day Parade in downtown Marysville, Thursday, November 11, beginning at 11:00 am Downtown Marysville, “D” Street.
