Sending a Holiday Salute and Care Packages

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - On Friday, December 20, community volunteers and members of the military community at Move America Forward put on a concerted effort to ship some 2500 Christmas boxes to members of the armed forces stationed abroad. “Those gifts are donations made through the nation’s largest grassroots, pro-troop organization grateful for its service men and women,” said Shawn Callahan executive director for the organization.

“In addition to being a beautiful holiday gesture,” says Move America Forward outreach director Scott Raab, “this national organization is dedicated to providing year-round provisions for those deploying from the Sacramento area.”

Dressed up as one of Santa’s elves for the occasion, volunteer Darlene Markus said, “I began volunteering for MAF on a regular basis after my husband, a Vietnam veteran, passed away, and I wanted to be involved supporting others going through that experience.”

After receiving a Move America Forward care package via U.S. Postal Service, U.S. troops stationed in foreign and oftentimes hostile lands appreciate the bond of solidarity the 501(c)3 charity fosters.
