Assemblyman Gallagher Appointed Chief Republican Whip

Assembly Member James Gallagher, R-Plumas Lake, announced that he has been appointed by Assembly Republican Leader Chad Mayes to the position of Chief Republican Whip for the second year of the 2015-16 Legislative Session. Gallagher has also been appointed to the Governmental Organization Committee by Speaker Atkins, in addition to his other committee appointments.

“I am pleased to have been appointed to this important leadership position as a freshman Assembly Member. I appreciate having the confidence of my colleagues and look forward to serving both the North State and all Californians,” said Gallagher. “I am ready to get to work advancing job creation, public safety, and water supply issues that are so important to our region and our state’s future.”

As Chief Republican Whip, Gallagher will work closely with the Republican leadership on key floor votes and operations to help ensure passage of meaningful legislation for the people of California.

“Assemblyman Gallagher is a strong and dynamic leader who is well-respected both inside and outside the Capitol,” said Assembly Republican Leader Chad Mayes. “I know that his leadership and commitment will help us shape a better California. Assembly Member James Gallagher represents the 3rd Assembly District, which encompasses all of Glenn, Sutter, Tehama, and Yuba counties as well as portions of Butte and Colusa counties.
